z/OS Systems Programmer – ITS4

As a z/OS Programmer for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT Services) you will be tasked with implementing and maintaining large mainframe computer system software for the State of Minnesota data center and will provide highly skilled technical assistance to those who use the mainframe.

Responsibilities to include:

Assist in the designing of solutions, and evaluation of software and operating system extensions, so that the needs of MNIT Services and its customers are met and they receive exceptional hosting services

Participate in the evaluation of the mainframe operating systems and the implementation of operating systems upgrades to eliminate related downtime

Provide technical assistance to the customers and staff of the MNIT mainframe and mainframe software, so that understanding and use of the operating system and hardware are optimized

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT experience that includes:

IBM zSeries computer hardware

Extensive knowledge of and experience with file organizations and access methods

IBM z/OS operating system

  • A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three years of experience, OR related Bachelor’s degree substitutes for two years, OR related Associate’s degree substitutes for one year.

**Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and a criminal history verification**

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of parallel sysplex and its interconnectivities

JES2 and CA-ACF2

Working knowledge in support of Easytrieve Plus Supra, SMR, MIM

Working knowledge of IBM Assembler and COBOL computer programming languages in addition to IBM System Modification Programming function

Ability to analyze problems in a logical manner and to isolate failing components

Strong interpersonal relationship skills
