JOB SUMMARY

The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) is in of need a phenomenal Workforce Project Manager to join its’ small, but dynamic, workforce team. The OEO is responsible for implementing the governor’s vision of “opportunity for all” throughout the state. OEO manages the state’s workforce board and supports a variety of projects and initiatives designed to connect Arizonans to high-quality jobs, and to supply Arizona’s most high-value industries, with a sustainable supply of highly-skilled talent. This position works closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute all elements of an assigned project. Most projects require interaction with a broad range of stakeholders, ranging from C-level executives to hiring managers to educators to government officials.

Essential Duties:
W orks closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcomes;

Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations;

Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies;

Responds to all inquiries regarding project status; serves as the public face of the project

Prepares and responds to all regulatory reporting/filing requirements to ensure compliance.

Builds, develops, and maintains relationships vital to project success;

Plans and executes high-profile events and meetings;

Participates in proposal-writing, research or other efforts to secure or support additional projects;

Assumes other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Public Administration, Communications or a related field, plus 3 years related experience; 1 of which is in project management; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Experience:
E xperience working with higher education and the workforce development system

Experience developing strategies and project specifications, especially for projects with a social impact

Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously

Experience in using standard project management and change management practices and technologies

Experience in maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships with leadership, stakeholders and project team.

Experience in effectively communicating project status, tasks and timelines to ensure project completion.

Experience developing verbal and written project status reports.

NOTE: Regular regional travel should be expected.
