Web Developer/Programmer

About the Role

M. Shanken Communications, Inc., is looking for a web developer with 3-5 years experience to join our team. The person who fills this role will work primarily in the back end, building and maintaining a suite of services built with Ruby on Rails.

About You

You are a developer who may currently be a small part of a large team, but you would rather be a large part of a small team. You are looking for a role where you can take on more responsibility, create meaningful value, and produce tangible results. You are both capable and happy working outside your comfort zone. You are proficient at presenting ideas and incorporating feedback. You have an adaptive approach to solution development that works with rather than fights against the constraints of your environment. You are familiar with software design patterns and are able to call on that knowledge when architecting solutions.

While traditional lines of business remain strong, the company recognizes the value of innovation. To that end we are developing more digital applications and platforms to capitalize on our deep well of lifestyle editorial content. We are re-tooling both our consumer-facing and back-office application spaces–the entire pipeline of content from the editors’ ideas to the users’ screens.
