Web Application Developer I

Job Summary

Under direction, develops, testsand supports web sites and applications for a newsroom environment. Understandsproject and development plans quickly, and is open to adaption as productsmature and key stakes change. Establishes responsible deadlines and personalwork plans. Is able to work collaboratively with people of varying technicalskillsets. Has a core knowledge of web and software development using a varietyof technologies. Has experience with website development and support.

Job Responsibility Works with internal stakeholders and teams on new and ongoing Web projects. Responsible for analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of incidents. Coordinates with team members to understand data standards and business requirements. Maintains proficiency on core skills sets. Responsible for on-time delivery of quality work. Working with reporters and editors on data projects, which may include database creation or front-end visualizations Takes part in general off-hours on-call rotation

Job Skills & Attributes

1+ years experience in webtechnologies, including C#, Java, Java Script, PHP, HTML, CSS, XML1+ yearsexperience with Microsoft SQL or MySQL Web Services developmentknowledge. Awareness of SEO/SEM, UI, Usability and user knowledge.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in ComputerScience with 1-3 years of related experience, or in the absence of a bachelor’sdegree, 6 years related experience. Knowledge of and experience with latestdevelopment languages, techniques and methodologies highly desired.

Other Qualifications

1+ years experience in webtechnologies, including C#, Java, Java Script, PHP, HTML, CSS, XML1+ yearsexperience with Microsoft SQL or MySQL Web Services developmentknowledge/awareness of SEO/SEMUI, Usability and user knowledge.
