Volunteer Outreach and Community Engagement Coordinator – AmeriCorps VISTA

Jeremiah Program is a nonprofit dedicated to helping the families we partner with empower themselves through a two-generational approach. We partner with single mothers and their children to offer one of the nation’s most successful strategies for transforming families from poverty to prosperity. The Volunteer Outreach and Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA builds capacity for Jeremiah Program MSP Volunteer Services. They will increase the volunteer capacity of Jeremiah Program by expanding and refining recruitment efforts to increase volunteer diversity, create and engage volunteers in supplemental trainings, and transition the Volunteer Advisory Council into an autonomous forum for volunteer input. Through the growth and refinement of the volunteer program in these ways, the VISTA will build Jeremiah Program’s capacity to serve our families, empowering them to move from poverty to prosperity.

As the Volunteer Outreach and Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA for Jeremiah Program MSP you will:

1. Create and maintain outreach partnerships and promote Jeremiah Program in the community.

2. Develop and engage volunteers in supplemental trainings to better support low income women in attaining post-secondary degrees.

3. Transition the Volunteer Advisory Council into an autonomous forum for volunteer input so we can better train volunteers to serve low income families.

4. Expand and refine volunteer recruitment efforts to increase volunteer diversity so as to better reflect the families we serve.

Required:

Associates degree or higher

Over 18 years of age

Must pass a DHS Background Check and drug test

Interest in education, women’s issues, children/youth, community outreach

Ability to work with diverse populations

Ability to travel between St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses (car recommended)

Flexibility, ability to multi-task, collaborate

Work independently and on a team
