      This position is part of the Richard Nixon Presidential Library, National Archives and Records Administration. As a Volunteer and Visitor Services Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of the volunteer program at the library.

      Responsibilities
      As a Volunteer and Visitor Services Coordinator, GS-0301-07, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

      • Responsible for the coordination and operation of the volunteer program throughout the Library.
      • Coordinate, process, and complete the required NARA background check process on all NARA volunteers, including Docents.
      • Ensure appropriate and adequate Docent Guild and volunteer support for all Library education and tour programs and public programming and events.
      • Responsible for the recruitment of volunteers throughout the Library.
      • Maximizes use of volunteers through efficient planning, automation of work processes, and in-depth training, using training to enhance organizational effectiveness and stimulate volunteer morale.
      • Updates and maintains volunteer files and ensures that volunteers are adequately scheduled and report for duty as directed.
      • Responsible for monitoring stock of visitor brochures and flyers for public programming or exhibition handouts.

      Qualifications
      GS-07 – Candidates must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

      Examples of specialized experience for this grade level include: developing, coordinating, and/or managing a volunteer and/or volunteer-based tour program in a library, museum, cultural, or similar institution; evaluating effectiveness of program and recommending improvements; preparing and delivering briefings and presentations; developing and maintaining related files and reports; and effectively utilizing computer technology and software.

      One year of graduate education from an accredited educational institution in a related field: developing, coordinating, and/or managing a volunteer and/or volunteer-based tour program in a library, museum, cultural, or similar institution; evaluating effectiveness of program and recommending improvements; preparing and delivering briefings and presentations; developing and maintaining related files and reports; and effectively utilizing computer technology and software.

      a combination of experience and related graduate education.

      GRADUATE EDUCATION:
      One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study.
