INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT: The Office of the Attorney General, Department of Legal Affairs (OAG) is a pre-eminent, constitutional office, which serves as the chief lawyer to all state agencies and provides legal protections for Floridians against fraud and through the enforcement of the state’s laws. The OAG, is a cabinet agency in the executive branch of Florida state government.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: In order to be considered for the position, applicant responses to qualifying questions must be verifiable by skills and/or experience stated on the employment application. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree from an acredited college or university and four years of professional or non professional experience in administrative work, accounting, auditing, probation and parole, corrections, claims processing, claims or benefits eligibility determination, social or victim services. A Master’s degree in a related field can substitute for the required experience. Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

JOB SUMMARY: This is a regional victim advocate for the Attorney General’s Office serving as agency liaison with local victim service providers. A background and experience in the field of victim services is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Extensive travel involved. This victim advocate position will provide extensive training and outreach presentations to allied professionals regarding Division of Victim Services programs, such as the address confidentiality program, victim compensation, domestic violence relocation, sexual battery relocation, human trafficking relocation, criminal justice advocacy, cyber safety, financial crimes and identify theft. Some direct service to victims of crime may be provided.

KSA/EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to individuals with the following: Knowledge of the basic objectives of victim services and compensation programs; principles and techniques of effective crisis intervention. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate information, ability to conduct public presentations, ability to efficiently multitask in a busy work environment, effective communication, work independently, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Must have the ability to understand and apply applicable protocols, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

During the interview, applicants should be prepared to present a PowerPoint presentation created by the applicant. The PowerPoint should be no more than 5-slides regarding the criminal appeals process, identity theft and/or victims of financial crimes.
