Job Summary

As a UX/Services Designer at Healthwise, you’re embedded in high functioning product and services teams. Working side-by-side with product managers, engineers, content developers, client and professional services consultants, and behavioral health experts, you are solving some of the greatest challenges in healthcare. You think about the short, medium, and long-term aspects of the problem space. Through user research, you challenge assumptions and demystify problems. You help prototype and validate solution hypotheses. And most of all, you know how to deliver great design. You facilitate and collaborate with stakeholders across Healthwise. You hop in the mix when it comes to talking to health consumers, clinicians, and clients about their goals and needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads design discussions and works collaboratively in a product team environment.
  • Facilitates and participates in design discussions with clients, clinicians, and people all over the country taking care of their health or caring for others.
  • Thrives in understanding the big picture and then carrying validated solutions through execution and delivery.
  • Distills complex problems into simple design experiences that balance business and user goals.
  • Pitches, explains, and gets many different roles in the organization excited about design ideas.
  • Validates design ideas through user testing, data analysis, and other forms of feedback.
  • Works with other designers to maintain a cohesive visual style guide and design language.
  • Crafts prototypes, visual designs, and creative assets within atomic design standards.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making, manage multiple priorities, and use initiative in managing job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications

  • Design Chops: You have a background and education in design (or related). You are comfortable in a visual design role and producing development-ready assets.
  • User-Centered: You know your way around setting up user testing and getting feedback from the end users of your work. You use feedback to rapidly iterate on your design vision.
  • Communication and Facilitation: You can walk through design vision with an exec. You can lead and participate in discussions with clients. You can walk through design vision and feasibility with an engineer. You can collaborate and critique design with your fellow designers. You can lead design studios, discussions, and critiques. Whether you’re facilitating or participating, you know how to contribute.
  • Expertise in Accessible Design: Healthwise designs to WCAG 2.0 AA. If accessibility/universal design in your toolbelt today, you’re excited about adding it through formal training and collaboration with Healthwise experts.
  • Process and Design Methods: Knowledge of design thinking, service design, design sprints, iterative design, and/or dual track agile a plus. You know when to work in the problem space and you know when to push through to a solution. You know how and when to coach, console, and encourage your product team. You know how to pull up a chair and help folks work collaboratively.
  • Technical Understanding: You are ready to work hand in the hand with development. You know what’s really needed of your design work from a technical perspective.
