User Experience Designer

Virtuoso is a sales and marketing services company that enables luxury travel consultants to deliver unique, personalized travel experiences. As "Specialists in the Art of Travel", Virtuoso consultants develop customized client itineraries that incorporate the world’s premier cruise lines, tour operators and hotel partners.


Position Summary:
The UX Designer is responsible for identifying UX needs and translating business requirements into sitemaps, user flows, mockups and prototypes. This specific role will have a strong visual design focus and will be expected to design the overall functionality of the product and iterate upon it, with a strong focus on user-testing.


Essential duties and responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Employ a user-centered design approach to rapidly test and iterate designs.
  • Design, layout and deliver interactive wireframes and workflows driven by specifications written by product owners.
  • Participate in creating a content design strategy.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive analyses of other websites operating is the same space.
  • Identify design problems and devise appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with business owners in various departments across the company on a variety of B2B and B2C projects.
  • Assist network members and partners with miscellaneous UX needs.
  • Attend regular brainstorming sessions on design work with the Virtuoso UX team.
  • Some domestic travel may be required.

Educational and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art, Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of UX design experience. Prefer candidates with experience designing complex solutions for various digital environments, web and mobile.
  • Expertise in standard UX prototyping tools such as Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, Balsamiq.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design process.
  • Experience working within an existing design language, style guide or pattern library.
  • Demonstrable experience with page layout, design theory, hierarchy, color, typography and composition.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Ability to understand complex business rules.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Portfolio of work required.


Type/Nature of Contacts:

Daily contact with Virtuoso design team, product owners and user interface developers.

Regular contact with Virtuoso executives and business owners, advisors and supplier partners.
