Position Overview
Functional Title: US Technology lead – Stock Loan

Corporate Title: Vice President

Position Description:

This new role focuses on taking technical leadership for our Stock Loan platforms in the US. Working closely with our user base we have an aggressive delivery roadmap that’s underway. To support this we need a strong Technology leader in the US to work with the global technology leaders

The role will seek to drive technology innovation whilst balancing the work that will need to be performed on the legacy platforms to support the Business and manage the migration. Will be expected to work with global development teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to respond to requirements supplied by project analysts in a constructively critical manner, from the point of view of the development team
  • Provide architecture and design recommendations and implement these in terms of usability, scalability, design and performance.
  • Provide solutions for technical and functional issues including performance related items and reducing complexity, increasing maintainability and providing flexibility and reuse for more feeds and products being brought on.
  • Be a global technology leader pushing the use of appropriate leading edge technologies and techniques
  • Enhancing, building, tuning and debugging applications and other related duties and responsibilities
  • Investigate and correct software defects
  • Prepare comprehensive design and technical specifications documentation, and ensure timely completion of assigned work.

Experience/ Exposure:

Technology:

  • Data: both Big Data (NoSQL, Spark, HDFS, Druid, Kafka, Kudu, Swoop, Flume) and RDBMS (Oracle, Sybase ASE & IQ ). Cache & In memory data grids: Hazelcast, Spring, less so Coherance
  • Core: Scala, Java (Weblogic & Tomcat), Python and/or R, C/C++/C#, REST/JSON Services, Node.js and HTML5
  • Infra & O/S transformation from Physicals running Unix and Solaris to Cloud infra and Linux. Security, Authentication, Entitlements
  • Full SDLC Automation: Jira, BitBucket(Stash), TeamCity, Artifactory and Sonar

Domain Knowledge:

  • Ideally GPF domain knowledge, but not a must – particularly FRM (Financial Resource Management) and SL (Sec Lending).
  • Other Equities (cash, derivs) and/or FICC a plus
  • Good to have experience outside Investment Banks (Goldman, Morgan) and other industries (Technology would be ideal) and ideally an Open Source contributor / lead

Relevant Experience:

  • 10+ years or more of software development experience
  • Financial Services experience and Capital Markets would be of benefit but is not essential. Understanding of Securities LendingRisk and Margin business would be of further benefit
  • Ability to handle teams working with multiple sites (onsite, offshore, near shore)
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong design skills
