TRANSPORTER

The transporter is responsible for ensuring that patients are transported safely and in a timely fashion. This position requires the transporter to ensure that patients are moved from their bed to either a wheelchair or stretcher without falls or injury to the patient. The transporter may also be required to hold patients during examination. The transporter is also responsible for bed management throughout the hospital, and is required to move standard and specialty beds as needed.

II. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
The skills required for this position include being familiar with limited medical terminology. Must be dependable, and exhibit excellent professionalism. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff. Must be able to multi task and arrange tasks according to priority level. This position requires a high level of awareness of patient care and the transporter must be able to interpret and follow instructions.

III. Working Conditions:
The position is physically demanding. The transporter must be able to safely lift/move patients with little or no assistance.

IV. Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent. Must have the ability to handle and operate equipment required; must complete annual competency requirements with score of 90 or greater.

V. Responsibilities:
The transporter is also responsible for transporting supplies to various departments of the hospital and performing various other duties assigned by management. Practice Standard Precautions and adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Must maintain a helpful caring attitude and be perceived as courteous and cheerful when relating to all other associates and customers. Provides services to infants, children, adults, and geriatric patients and families. Adheres to the TRMC Compliance Program, Code of Conduct and TRMC policies and procedures, HIPAA Privacy and Security Initiatives.
