TRANSPORTATION TECHNICIAN

Accent Controls, Inc. is seeking a full-time Transportation Technician with at least with at least two (2) years of relevant experience in Freight Services, located at the Fort Benning U.S. Army Base in Fort Benning, Ga.

Job Description & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate administrative and operational functions pertaining to the movement of government owned cargo by all modes of transportation within CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for movements.
  • Determine priority, mode of transportation, routing, quantity and type of equipment required to complete all types of shipments and execute in accordance with DoD 4500.9-R.
  • Plan and oversee the process of inbound and outbound freight shipments, unit moves and shipping of hazardous and sensitive materials.
  • Process and document freight for shipment using the applicable automated system (i.e. GFM) to prepare CBLs.
  • Coordinate with the customer to obtain the information necessary to properly complete the shipping documents when information is missing, incorrect or incomplete and the shipment cannot be effected.
  • Research to determine or provide response to status of freight shipped in accordance with Freight Traffic Rules, Pub. No. 10, DOD 4500.9-R, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain and update the local commercial carrier list.
  • May support the weighing, measuring and palletizing loads; loading rail cars and trucks, and tying down equipment on rail cars.
  • May participate as a member in the local metro area GOCARE committee in accordance with DoD 4500.9-R, Defense Transportation Regulation and document and report activities associated with the Government Cargo Recovery Effort (GOCARE).
  • May be appointed and trained as the certified hazardous material employee.

Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Job Requirements:
