Transportation Analyst - Systems and Tools

The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Analyst – Systems and Tools in our Mesa, AZ location. This position is an integral part of a large effort within our enterprise Supply Chain and Logistics group. It will involve working with analysts to develop enterprise requirements and lead deployment/implementation of SAP ERP and/or existing Transportation Management System (TMS) logistics system. This role will have an impact on Boeing as a whole both domestically and internationally.

Position Responsibilities:

Supports activities for Transportation Management System (TMS) operations for inbound / outbound domestic and international shipments. Responsible for responding to daily inquiries from TMS users and TMS vendor.
Identifies and ability to implement supply chain logistics process improvement opportunities through strategic thinking, critical thinking and analysis. Ability to gather, process and analyze data, developing metrics and leading continuous improvements activities.
Works closely with carriers, suppliers and many internal cross-functional partners to troubleshoot pain points and help develop innovative solutions to meet business needs.
Onboard users through various training tools and platforms. Monitor usage to ensure a high level of compliance.
Develops carrier partner relationships and supports carrier performance by measuring KPIs.
Create, maintain and distribute carriers KPIs, scorecards, dashboards on a fixed schedule i.e. daily, weekly, monthly .
Work with cross-functional teams and TMS vendor to ensure TMS functioning at optimal level.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders and peers.
The candidate should be knowledgeable of domestic and international transportation, over-dimensional and specialized freight, material and supplier management, program management and transportation system/application deployments.
Familiarity with a Transportation Management Systems like Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and/or SAP TM.
Supports development of TMS and/or SAP ERP related business tools and solutions to support business partner requests.
Performs data management through a combination of data mining, data modeling, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, process mapping, and/or problem analysis; while executing day to day processes related to area of responsibility.
Participate in and lead transportation-related projects and help design the transportation strategy.
Create and maintain SOPs and best practice documents for multiple areas within transportation.
This role is also responsible for testing of future capabilities with TMS and/or SAP ERP, writing appropriate documentation.

Typical Education/Experience: Bachelor’s and typically 6 or more years’ related work experience, a Master’s degree and typically 4 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

Bachelor’s degree or higher education

Experience with any of the following transportation modes: TL, LTL, Air, Ocean, Small Parcel, or freight forwarders
Experience with carrier management and carrier oversight
3+ years of experience with data analytics and metric development
3+ of experience in Domestic and International Supply Chain Logistics
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing over-sized domestic and international shipments is preferred.
Experience with data analytics and metric development is preferred.
Needs to be a self-starter able to manage through ambiguity with an entrepreneurship spirit who can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Candidate must have excellent oral & written communication skills as well as organization and time management skills.
Candidate must have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (ex. Excel, Word, Access, Visio and PowerPoint) or experience with Tableau or similar data analytics tools. Must be comfortable learning new software and systems.
Well-developed problem-solving, organizational, and communications skills (oral, written, and interpersonal), ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize tasks according to schedules and goals, and an aptitude for complex, analytical work with attention to detail.
Able to work in a fast pace environment and shift priorities accordingly.
Strong interpersonal skills ability to collaborate across functions.
Strong analytical skills and ability to manage large quantities of data and drive innovation through analytics.
Preferred expertise in data visualization systems such as Tableau.
