Rate of Pay

$28.02 per hour at 75% step rate

Role purpose:

Supervise the safe and efficient movement of trains and other on-track equipment over designated portions of the railroad.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

· Demonstrated ability to direct employees, engaged in the movement of trains and other on-track equipment, in accordance with the operating rules and procedures.

· Must successfully complete a Train Dispatcher’s training program which includes examinations on the operating rules, instructions governing operations of signals and interlocking, employee timetables and physical characteristics.

· Must have good working knowledge of MS Office package.

· Successful history of matching strong interpersonal skills to business needs.

· Demonstrated effectiveness in delivering strong leadership and organizational skills.

· Combination of relevant work experience, training and education.

· Requires a minimum of 1-3 years’ of dispatching or emergency response experience.

· Work experience interpreting safety rules preferred, but not required.

· High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.

· Previous experience as a Train Dispatcher or Block Operator preferred.

Key Accountabilities

· Comply with and ensure staff compliance with all safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required.

· Directly responsible for all rail movement within an assigned territory.

· Must coordinate and prioritize maintenance of track and signal work, together with the efficient movement of scheduled trains.

· Duties included overseeing engine crews, flagmen, track and C&S Department personnel working within railroad boundaries assigned to specified territories.

· Must be conversant about Keolis Commuter Services obligations to the MBTA contract and other Railroads.

· Must be qualified on the NORAC operating rules.

· Assist local fire and police departments in emergency situations within governed railway boundaries.

· Comply with all related safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required.

· Attend and participate in all assigned training, specifically safety and security related.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Other duties as assigned during emergencies.

Other Requirements

Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment physical to include drug screen, audiogram & color vision screening. Also, contingent upon receiving a favorable background check.
