POSITION SUMMARY

  • Answers, assesses and directs calls quickly and efficiently in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner. Provides exceptional customer service through positive communication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Receives incoming telephone calls, either directly or from the switchboard.

2. Answers the telephone, assesses calls in order of priority, determines whether emergent/urgent, and directs to the appropriate person.

3. Provides information to callers.

4. Take messages and directs as needed.

5. Schedules, cancels and reschedules appointments.

6. Enters referrals and attaches to visits.

7. Writes CSN, DOS information on documents for scanning.

8. Provides intermittent coverage for PSR position.

9. Schedules language and non-language interpreters.

10. Works the department referral request que (calling patient to schedule appts).

11. Updates insurance information and demographics.

12. Page providers.

13. Fax information as requested.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

1. Ability to work with patience and courtesy in customer relations.

2. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Strong organization skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE

1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

2. Experience: Previous customer service experience preferred. Prior experience operating a multi-line telephone helpful.
