Technology Designer (AV Design Engineer)

Position Summary: The Technology Designer will become a key part of a collaborative team of Engineers. The Technology Designer will support the sales team with solution development for a variety of clients by providing equipment and solution recommendations for quoting. This role will also create system designs and documentation for sold designs.

The creation of project deliverables (SOW, pricing proposals, line drawings, architectural drawings)

1. System Design and Documentation

-The development of customer solutions

Site visits to understand environmental considerations
Considerations of integrating with OFE gear
Lead discovery process with customer
Contribute to, review and approve sales SOW
Design to budget
Identify optimal product solutions
– Achieving customer’s functional needs and budgetary needs
– Ensuring we can stand behind the solution
– Selecting manufacturers that can help put iSpace in a competitive and profitable position

-The creation of pre-sale project deliverables

Pricing proposals
Line drawings (if needed)
Architectural drawings (if needed)

-The delivery of post-sale project requirements

A detailed and thorough technical SOW that includes customer requirements
Updated Line drawings
Schematics
Architectural drawings
Network requirements
Installation details and instructions
CSV for purchasing

2. Provide Continuing Engineer Support during the Installation Phase

Create Change Order documentation when required
Keep open line of communication with field staff and help explain installation documentation as needed
Aide in system commissioning and troubleshooting when needed
Create as-build’s from field-generated red lines

3. Dtools Design Database Management:

Update the product database so it is kept current with products and pricing
Work with engineering department to further develop and utilize Dtools capabilities to increase department efficiencies and standardize deliverables

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in engineering or closely related discipline plus a minimum of two years field experience in the audio/video integration industry; AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; Dtools experience preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.

Certificates and Licenses:

CTS certified desired

Other Requirements: Willingness and ability to work beyond 40 hours per week during peak periods to ensure client needs are met. Ability and willingness to travel as well as work evenings or weekends is required.
