Summary of Role
The Technology Consultant is responsible for the effective design, integration, and maintenance of a range of technology implementations, often at a system-wide level. They provide assistance and mentoring to Technology Analysts and other associates, and help research and formulate technology update recommendations.
Responsibilities:
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
  • Design technology implementations of a high complexity, requiring deep technology expertise
  • Plan new technology implementations, including preparation, rollout, testing, and operational handoff.
  • Understand specifications and desired outcomes of assigned technology implementations. Assist in refining requirements as needed by working with source(s) of requirements.
  • Design and build fallover capabilities for assigned technologies and implementations.
  • Develop technical standards upon which implementation designs are based, often in consultation with Technology Architects.
  • Be familiar with the business domain (processes, rules, data model, and lexicon) of business areas supported by assigned systems and technologies, and serve as first-line subject matter expert on those knowledge areas for Applications Consultants, developers and other IT teams.
  • Address problems and research questions within the assigned technology domains and implementations.
  • Provide feedback to Technology Architect(s) on implementation architecture and design.
  • Integrate enterprise technology considerations into day-to-day work, such as lifecycle management, capacity management, and versioning
  • Know, follow, and enforce industry and company standards for assigned technologies and implementations, including quality and security.
  • Know, follow, and enforce company, department, and team standards and expectations for documentation, including maintenance and support documentation.
  • Liaise with business on project requirements, coordinate with Applications Consultant and Applications Architect on software development, coordinate with testers and business on testing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree and 3 years of equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Oracle database technology and data analysis
  • Experience translating technical requirements into implementations
  • Experience planning technology implementations end-to-end
  • Experience testing, configuring, and maintaining assigned technologies
  • Experience executing rollouts of new technologies
