JOB SUMMARY:
Department of Computer Science in College of Science and Technology at Lincoln University is looking for a technical person who will be responsible for the daily operation, management, and security of Linux computer systems and network. The position initially focuses on server systems installation, setup, maintenance and computer lab management for teaching, learning and research. The position will be required to teach 1-2 undergraduate courses per semester in the area of computer science based on the needs of department when the required system is up running.

This technical position is responsible for ensuring our computing infrastructure satisfies the requirements and service levels for the systems in Computer Science Department. It will require consulting with department, college and IT department of university, as well as student users to guarantee successful project outcomes. The position is also responsible for computer lab management, system upgrade, teaching/mentoring student on technical support and Unix system administration and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Masters degree is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Two years of directly related technical experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Demonstrated experience with Linux based systems (Red Hat, Fedora, RHEL, SuSE, etc.).

At least one year Windows (2008/2012 Server) experience.

Experience with database, web applications, PHP, Apache and IIS configurations, and network security.

Understanding of VMware (or other virtualization software) in a production environment.

Experience with working with vendors to resolve problems.

Experience scripting and programming using some of the following languages: Perl, Python, C, C++, Java.

Experience on teaching and mentoring undergraduate students is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals.

Ability to teach undergraduate Computer Science courses.

Ability to multi-task and work on many critical projects at the same time.

Ability to perform some administrative assistant duties as assigned

Ability to work nights and/or weekends for servers’ maintenance, as necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. Travel for administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
