Technical Project Manager

Tesla is seeking a highly-motivated technical project manager to lead cross functional teams in the launch of new programs which will include operations, system development, equipment, processes, interactions with internal and external customers of remanufacturing of batteries, drive units, chargers, and infotainment systems. This requires ensuring targets are on time and ensuring factory readiness for change execution.

Roles:

  • Plan, coordinate and drive improvement into existing manufacturing processes, equipment, and material flow
  • Lead and support systems development including design frameworks and lean processes including training
  • Conduct business cases to determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies risks and sequences the activities needed to complete the project
  • Drive activities relating to the development of new technology
  • Interact with manufacturing, finance, material planners, inventory control, and service to adjust processes, man-power allocation, material flow and update cost structures
  • Collaborate with engineers to coordinate process, equipment, and material changes to existing products
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to execute sustaining activities
  • Drive ad-hoc requests and tasks
  • Prepares cost estimates, request for quotes, schedules, and capture lesson learned
  • Work hand-in-hand with new program introduction to remanufacturing
  • Assist NPI with end-of-life and backwards compatibility studies
  • Forecast project timing and resource allocation
  • Work with teams to standardize diagnostic and manufacturing methods

Qualifications / Skills:

  • 2+ years managing technical projects, preferably in manufacturing environments
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or engineering
  • Proven success in project management, communications, influencing others, cross-functional team interaction
  • Excellent organization, problem solving, tactical thinking and time management skills
  • Proven record of quickly adapting to business needs with a can-do mindset, flexibility, and fast-learner
  • Working knowledge of methods, machinery, material, man power to scale manufacturing operations
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Agile Methodologies are pluses
  • PMP or other PM Certification is desired
  • Working knowledge of technical software: CATIA, CAD, SQL, Process Simulations (Arena) is a plus
  • Understanding of powertrain components for electric vehicles is a plus
