Technical Editor/Environmental Field Assistant (Livingston)

ERM is seeking a multi-faceted Technical Editor/Environmental Field Assistant to join our Livingston, MT office. As a member of our dynamic group, you will be involved in preparing, editing, reviewing, and publishing large, multi-volume technical reports and documents in a manner that meets our very high report quality standards as well as providing administrative support to our 9-person office. In addition, candidate would be able to support a variety of other environmental projects. Preferred experience includes conducting various environmental duties such as sample collection, site inspections, industrial hygiene monitoring, due diligence and biological sampling. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, flexible, and dedicated problem-solver with an extraordinary eye for detail and a passion for high-quality technical publications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Edit report text (i.e., copy, stylistic, and substantive) to the highest standards of accuracy, and in accordance with our house style.

Summarize technical and scientific documents in plain language.

Adopt custom, project-specific style requirements, and ensuring these requirements are consistently applied.

Assemble, compile, check, and manage citations and references to external documents, ensuring all citation and reference information is present.

Compile and maintain accurate acronyms and abbreviations lists as needed.

Work with authors to resolve content-related problems in a timely manner.

Manage competing demands from multiple deadlines and project.

Format and publish documents from Word to PDF, in accordance with our exacting formatting standards.

Support variety of environmental studies as necessary; Conduct remote field work for extended periods of time.

Prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments.

Support web-based map applications and services.

Provide general administrative and project support to various office departments such as:

Update and maintain Office Outlook calendar;

Provide general office support with filing, projects, proposals, presentations, scanning, copying, and other tasks as required;

Compile reports pertaining to time and expense reports, timesheets, and other reports as needed on a weekly basis.

Plan and facilitate office events.

Order and track supplies for the office.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors or Master’s degree in related field.

3 to 5 years’ comprehensive experience editing technical documents, using a range of editing approaches, including proofreading, substantive and stylistic editing, and summarizing and re-writing.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word (expert), Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat. Familiarity with EndNote is an asset.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) strongly preferred.

Knowledge and familiarity with ArcGIS.

Minimum of 1 year applied experience using Esri’s ArcGIS 10.x suite of software or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

Basic knowledge of the technical application, concepts, principles and theories in GIS and GPS.

Working knowledge of geodatabases, georeferencing and spatial and attribute data entry and editing.

Adaptable attitude and willingness to work overtime when needed.

Highly motivated and flexible individual who can work independently as well as in a team.

Ability to work under pressure, juggling multiple deadlines and managing time effectively while maintaining an attitude of cooperation.

Detail oriented with a strong work ethic while maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion at all times.

Salary Range for this position will be from $40-$50K, dependent on experience.
