Systems Engineer

Reporting to the Director, installs, configures, writes code and maintains hardware operating systems and software. Actively performs daily, routine and complex system administration & maintenance, including hardware and software upgrades, system recovery and performance tuning. Participates in conjunction with application stakeholders and ensures that all software interfaces are up to date. Maintains documentation of the environment, including but not limited to backup software management, backup hardware management, Operating System hardening procedures, change management, work orders and on-call.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and develops a rapidly evolving online learning learning and data management systems ( LDMS ).

• Analyzes data from disparate systems and converts and imports that data into the LDMS application database.

• Designs and codes all aspects of the LDMS application from data-modelling to user interface.

• Maintains and develops technical and user documentation including a user manual, online help system, and technical documentation.

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting the requirements of the Research Education program, and simultaneously assessing, designing, and integrating components to meet the needs of external clients.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalency and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferences

Experience developing enterprise web applications for instructional and educational support is preferred.
