Systems Architecture Engineer

Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:
The System Architect designs complete and complex frameworks, systems or products. Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple platforms, products or systems. Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.

  • Helps architect system solutions to solve customer problems or enhance product portfolio
  • Establishes requirements and design programs for complex systems design projects
  • Analyzes best approach to solving systems problems (e.g., innovation vs. re-use or partner strategies)
  • Considers latest technologies and new approaches to designs and practical implementation of new designs, with focus on improvement in performance, productivity and cost
  • Works with cross-functional design and operations team members to ensure designs can be released within scope, schedule and cost parameters
  • Acts as technical resource to the organization and provides recommendations using expertise in multiple technical areas
  • Presents solutions to internal and external customers
  • Creates technical documentation for internal and external use

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    This position operates in an office setting, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/scanners/fax machines, and filing cabinets.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is mainly a sedentary role; however, computer and office work is required. The computer work would require the ability to sit comfortably for long periods of time, typing/keyboarding skills, ability to focus on a computer screen; bend, stand, lift files, and open/close filing cabinet drawers. The travel requirements would require the ability to sit comfortably for extended periods of time.

    TRAVEL:
    25% – up to 50% domestic travel is expected for this position.
    Important Skills:

    REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A 4-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, finance/accounting or engineering from an accredited institution in the U.S or a comparable foreign university
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in similar role – must include experience in sales, marketing or business development roles
  • Recent experience with DoD or military accounts
  • Demonstrated track record of winning significant new business awards
  • Experience working with senior and executive management to align sales strategies and solutions
  • Demonstrated and proven skills in management of medium – large business development opportunities
  • Demonstrated success in interfacing with customers and building trusting relationships

  • ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer 10+ years’ directly related experience

  • Strong project management skills

  • Prefer ability to obtain U.S. government security clearance
