Systems Administrator 2 Position Overview

The Systems Administrator 2 is responsible for the operational support of network and host systems/applications owned or operated by Asante. These systems include, but are not limited to, Windows applications, Unix applications, client and server systems, network routing and switching, telephony systems, and security. The Systems Administrator 2 will follow established procedures to support existing systems/applications to meet the ITS goals of high availability, cost containment, and operational efficiency, and will develop new system support procedures for designated systems under the guidance of more senior technical resources. This may include the development or oversight of backup, maintenance, and security procedures, and coordination of the work of outside support specialists. Other responsibilities may include system monitoring, data backup and restoration, application support, user account administration, routine maintenance activities, system security, and other administrative tasks as assigned. Systems Administrator 2’s routinely act as support resources for projects and system implementations, and provide training and individual assistance to system users. The Systems Administrator 2 may be focused in specific disciplines, (e.g. server operations, storage systems, network infrastructure, client workstations, application support, database administration, telephony system support). The Systems Administrator 2 serves as tier 2 and 3 technical support for designated systems.

This Systems Administrator 2 position is part of Asante’s ITS Operations team and will be focused on server support tasks, including specifically server patching and lifecycle management. Preferred candidates will have Microsoft Windows Server and Unix/Linux server administration experience and be effective at engaging end user groups, vendors, and ITS peers to help Asante maintain a reliable, secure, and high performing physical and virtual server environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

· Associate’s degree in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent professional training in information systems, information technology, or technical support, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Experience

· 4+ years experience in system and application administrative technical support in a 7×24 mission critical enterprise environment required.

· Demonstrated knowledge of computer operating systems (such Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows Workstation, Linux, and IBM AIX), client and server based applications, voice, data, and network communication systems, monitoring systems, data storage systems, and backup systems required.

· A solid understanding of systems/applications administration and monitoring, and the proactive maintenance of network based systems using industry best practices required.

Skills

· Demonstrated ability to: support complex IT systems; communicate effectively with users, vendors, and other technical resources; diagnose and address system issues; follow, develop, and document support procedures and prioritize work to meet ITS support goals and objectives.

· Able to work efficiently toward shared goals in a professional team environment.

Licensure

· IT industry certifications appropriate to the specific areas of responsibility.

· Targeted starting wage range: $61,318 – $76,648 annually
