Systems Administrator

M. Tucker, one of the largest distributors of foodservice equipment and supplies in the country, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated IT LAN/Systems Administrator to join our responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly team. This role is an integral part of the IT staff with a hybrid mix of software support, network support, data analysis, maintenance, break/fix, server support, and project work. Under general direction, utilizes technical skills and good judgment in installing, setting up and supporting LAN, and client devices. The Systems administrator will utilize keen written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal associates and external vendors to provide all levels of support and isolate problems associated with Active Directory, SQL Databases, Applications, Web Servers, VMWare, Communications (hosted voip and bandwidth), and User Issues.

Essential Functions Include:

• Has technical knowledge on all phases he/she overseas
• Also, has the duty of instructing, directing and checking the work of technical associates
• Responsible for documentation of both design and usage of technical systems
• Receives policy-level direction regarding standards, budgetary constraints and department standards and will provide input to enhance policy and procedures
• Under general direction, works independently to research business and computer system needs, formulate objectives, provide quality assurance, and develop or modifies procedures to solve technical application needs
• Must be able to support Windows Operating Systems LAN and WAN environments and have a good understanding of IPX and TCP/IP communications. Support means installs, configurations, bug fixes, and be capable of troubleshooting problems efficiently and accurately. Must also have a good understanding of Active Directory administration and security and virtual environments using VMWare
• Must be familiar with WAN environment through Routers, Hubs, Switches and other communications
• Required to be able to forecast upgrades and renewals by staying current on technology trends and product roadmaps. Project Management capability, and extensive verbal and written communication skills
• Responsible for project work outside of system responsibilities. Projects will be assigned by IT management in accordance to departmental goals
• Must be able to support multiple workstation environments and be able to provide all level support for the PC/Server enviroment
• Must be able to support program products that run on workstations, such as the Microsoft Office products. In addition, must understand emulation software and know how to configure Linux, Unidata, and U2/Universe and SQL databases

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities:

• Five or more years of experience in installing, setting up and supporting LAN systems and software
• Customer Support experience in Server/User environments
• Strong working knowledge of databases (SQL, Unidata, et al) and Linux, Windows, and VMware environments
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills and effectively interact with a wide variety of personalities at all levels within the organization
• Must be self-motivated, honest, have an innate sense of urgency to fix user’s issues, and have high ethical standards
• Insatiable curiosity into all things tech is a must
