Systems Administrator II

SUMMARY: This employee is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuring, monitoring and maintenance of employer’s computing infrastructure, ensuring that it remains effective and secure. The employee will analyze current and potential systems issues, ensuring that employer’s tactical goals will be met while complying with employer’s standards and meeting the needs of the organization. This individual will work closely with the Desktop Support Team, providing guidance and backup assistance when necessary. Pay will be between $25-$30/ hour, determined by the employer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Help ensure the security and reliability of employer’s computing
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration
  • Contribute to and maintain system
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Ensures compliance with employer’s Disaster Recovery Plan and assists in the testing of the Disaster Recovery

OPERATIONS AND SUPPORT

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Provide other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies

MAINTENANCE

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary
  • Willingness to assist the Desktop Support Team when necessary.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field preferred, but relevant experience may be substituted
  • 4+ Years of system administration experience on mission-critical, enterprise-level systems
  • 4+ Years of Windows 7/10 and Microsoft Server System Administration (2012, 2016) experience. The candidate should excel at performing all duties of a System Administrator and be comfortable managing multiple projects and day-to-day activities
  • Strong teamwork, decision-making, documentation and analytical skills
  • Familiar with networking security concepts and anti-virus products
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP network fundamentals and host configurations
  • Experience with a cloud-based architecture such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with WSUS preferred
  • Experience with CISCO networking preferred
  • Experience with server virtualization VMWare preferred

Availability for occasional 7 x 24 and weekend work
