Sustainability Intern

Job Description

This intern will work with other engineering staff to evaluate materials used in HP products for environmental performance and technical performance. The intern will:

• Update the HP chemical model of materials and substances used in electronic components
• Complete assessments of the health and environmental impact of chemicals and materials used in HP products and their potential replacement materials
• Organize and validate HP supplier lists
• Support other projects as needed
• Organize and present findings to the technical and procurement communities

Education and Experience Required: at least two years of full-time enrollment (minimum 12 hours per semester) in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Toxicology, or Biology completed by June 2017.

– Familiarity with scientific research methods

– Interest in environmental issues

– Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills

– Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English

– Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely

– Proficient in Windows-based productivity tools (email, word processors, spreadsheets, etc.)

Other desired experience, knowledge and skills

– Database experience

– Familiarity with electronics hardware
