This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of the Chief Operating Officer (OCOO), Office of Safety, Security and Asset Management (OSSAM) in Atlanta, GA.

DUTIES:

As a Supervisory Physical Security Specialist you will:

  • Perform duties pertaining to the development, coordination, direction and assessment of a nation-wide physical security and laboratory technical security program for all CDC and ATSDR facilities and personnel.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and improve processes and procedures to monitor the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the organization.
  • Plan, organize, participate and provide direction to a team of specialists.
  • Implement measures to reduce the vulnerability of specialized facilities or operations from material theft, diversion, sabotage or terrorism.
  • Conduct security surveys of buildings and facilities to include CDC laboratories and develops measures to prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Develop master plans for physical security matters at CDC and ATSDR facilities.
  • Serve as a Project Officer on contracts related to security matters.
  • Conduct periodic training on facility security, physical security, security policies and security procedures for government employees, contractor guard force and contractor employees.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include performing duties pertaining to developing, coordinating, directing and assessing nation-wide physical security and laboratory technical security programs for CDC and ATSDR facilities and personnel.

Documenting experience:
In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee’s position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee’s supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee’s official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.
