Potential Internship Areas

Internship opportunities are available in Engineering Technology – Metrology.

The assignment of this position will primarily be focused on a metrology related project with a mentor [Senior Associate with Technical background] to accomplish the specific project objectives, e. g. fundamental comparison of the roundness measurement conducted by rotating table [polar coordinate system] against the scanning CMM [Cartesian coordinate system]. The intern will be expected to understand the objective, define the work plan to meet the objective, conduct experiments, write progress reports and give presentations.

Internship Program Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in one of the following majors:
    Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or similar major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours
  • Must be a full-time student (12 semester hours) attending an accredited four-year university
  • Must have experience serving in a leadership role(s) and working on team projects/activities
  • Demonstrated leadership in academic or extra-curricular activities
  • Demonstrated success in achieving goals
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate
  • Strong computer skills,
    specifically experience
    with
    MS office, Programming – any language, Basic knowledge of statistics, Data acquisition e.g. lab view or similar, Basic skills in AutoCAD or any CAD software
  • Interest in manufacturing, experimentation, and hands on work
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
