Position Summary

The Student Success Specialist provides administrative support and academic advising for Interdisciplinary Studies Online students and assists coordination of College in student success initiatives. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advising to individual students

  • Provide information to students about departmental options

  • Assist students with admissions and registration procedures

  • Interact with university technical staff on issues related to online instruction

  • Interact with academic departments related to online issues

  • Write annual reports and other documents as needed

  • Maintain student files

  • Support the College recruitment, retention and assessment initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of university structures and academic programs

  • Ability to process and categorize material

  • Ability to write clearly

  • Ability to use general office software and specialized web design software

  • Ability to conduct research using various sources

  • Ability to work with others and project a helpful demeanor.

Required Education and/or Experience

BA or BS degree required. Facility with web-based communications and navigation are essential to the job.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

A Master’s Degree and two years of related work experience.
