Student Recruitment Specialist

  • Assists the department in carrying out the strategic student recruitment plan: implement strategies to market, counsel, and enroll new students from a targeted market/ geographic region
  • Acts as a liaison and develops, builds and maintains strong relationships with advisors and prospective students and their families through a variety of interactions including but not limited to: personal, electronic media and phone contact
  • Represents the college at various in-state and out-of-state events: to include travelling to community college and graduate recruitment fairs/events and university-wide events on both the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus and the ASU West campus to maximize student service to meet university enrollment goals
  • Host regularly scheduled information sessions for graduate programs
  • Support our recruitment efforts for programs offered across Arizona including Yuma, Tucson, Phoenix, Glendale, and Lake Havasu
  • Responsible for managing systems in support of new student enrollment goals for the specific student population and for tracking student attendance at events and providing reports to the Student Recruitment Coordinator.
  • Collaborates and works with fellow recruitment specialists, the Student Recruitment Coordinator and the Director of Recruitment to achieve enrollment goals and objectives
  • Acts as a back-up to provide direction to multiple student workers.
  • Follows up with leads and meets with students by appointment either at their community college or on an ASU campus.
  • Serves as a contact point for prospective and admitted students.
  • Connect and engage with prospective students through database outreach and social media outlets.
  • Participates in all other aspects of outreach and recruitment as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and one (1) year of related experience; OR, Five years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Master’s degree
  • Experience in recruitment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASU academic requirements and admission policies.
  • Experience in leadership skills
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Experience with a CRM system such as Salesforce
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASU student systems and practices: i.e. PeopleSoft, DARS,

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (65%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (20%).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%).
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • In state and out of state travel is required
