Strategic Finance Manager

Summary: The Strategic Finance Manager will manage the financial support of corporate development efforts. Lead valuation work and manages financial due diligence for potential investments. Lead the financial support of nascent businesses.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• May supervise the work of a Senior Specialist, Strategic Finance, including hiring, evaluating, training, performance management, compensating, motivating, coaching, and developing goals and procedures to ensure the achievement of goals.

• Develop analytics utilizing multiple methodologies including DCF, comparable transactions and multiples.

• Forecast the impact of potential transactions to overall corporate earnings.

• Identify critical value drivers and develop key sensitivity analyses and stress testing around those drivers.

• Prepare analyses indicating the impact of potential merger, acquisition, divestiture and investment transactions on WGL Holdings’ consolidated financial statements.

• Manage cross-functional due diligence teams having personnel/expertise in accounting, tax, operations, and legal functions.

• Support negotiation of definitive agreements, such as partnership, O&M, and financing.

• Lead and perform independent research confirming/benchmarking key value drivers, assumptions, and industry trends; works with WGL Holdings’ financial advisors to research current best practices on evaluation criteria.

• Identify particular areas of focus for corporate development and specific targets within those areas.

• Aid in the generation of transaction flow, either through professional contacts or professional development/seminar opportunities.

• Work with the Director, Strategic Finance in the further development of standard opportunity evaluation metrics.

Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.

• At least 7 years of experience in a related area, such as investment banking, consulting advisory, corporate development, business development, etc.

• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

• MBA or Master’s degree in Finance preferred.

• Proven expert knowledge of financial modeling/valuation and demonstrated experience in due diligence.

• Demonstrated proficiency with software to model business plans & results and to research business information and data.

• Demonstrated ability to successfully influence and persuade others to achieve desired business outcomes.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate multiple scenarios and to implement effective solutions to broadly defined business problems.

• Demonstrated executive presentation skills required to effectively communicate complex messages to diverse audiences across all organizational levels.

• Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, to share, retrieve, research and present business information.

• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, subordinates and peers.
