Statewide DD CARES Crisis Coordinator

Hiring Range: $4,366-$5,822


Hours: Varried hours with travel required

Location: Multiple locations across the state considered (Jamestown, Devils Lake, Minot)


Summary of Work

Create a support network that is able to respond to developmental disabilities crisis needs at community level. Person centered approaches and training is used with positive behavioral support and other therapeutic tools to enhance the existing service system. Provide prevention and intervention services for people with DD and mental health needs through crisis response, training, and consultation. Provide consultation, training and technical assistance to community partners and organizations to create a well-trained network that can better support people in their homes. Provide services designed to help stabilize a person within their existing care network, using behavior support professionals to build skills and de-escalate. Provide hands on support working with people, provider, and families. Assist people in practicing de-escalation skills, developing strategies to build skills and prevent crises, seek supports to restore stability and functioning supports. Responsible to augment existing system of support but does not replace it. Cross train system crisis prevention and intervention planning along with providing safety planning with people, providers, and families. Provide brief crisis stabilization treatment, in-home technical assistance and supports as needed. Visit homes and providers regularly to provide support and needed service to assist with assessment and preventative crisis planning. Responsible to document service delivery in a manner consistent with agency record keeping. Complete all documentation and charting per policies and procedures and maintain non-case related paperwork. Attend in-service training, workshops and staff development as directed, along with attend and participate in staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the position’s program responsibility area and two years of related work experience in a specific health/human service program area. A master’s degree in a field related to the position’s program responsibility area may substitute for the work experience requirement. Additional work experience as specified may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. At the time of recruitment, the hiring authority will specify the type of degree and/or work experience and any other qualifications required for the position.

Degree’s to be considered: Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, Child Development and Family Science, Communication Disorder, Nursing, Developmental Disabilities, or Business.
