Staff Accountant Senior

Job Overview/Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant position is responsible for performing various accounting and treasury duties that occur within the corporate treasury department. The responsibilities of this position will consist of, but not be limited to:

The appropriate accounting treatment for and classification of the Company’s various corporate investments. This includes determining and preparing the adjusting journal entries necessary to accurately report the corporate investments within the Company’s financials, as well as develop and/or maintain the workpapers necessary to support such positions

The accurate and appropriate accounting and reporting of the Company’s credit facility and unsecured debt, including the preparation of debt-related adjusting journal entries, account analysis, and debt covenant calculations

Perform the analysis and confirm the accuracy of derivative-related activity with counterparties, as well as handle all aspects of accounting and financial statement reporting of such activity. This position is also responsible for determining the documentation requirements of the Company’s hedge-related activity, as well as ensuring compliance with such requirements

Research and analysis of appropriate GAAP accounting treatment and financial statement reporting as it applies to transactions entered into and/or managed by the treasury department

Develop and document treasury-related policies, as needed, and evaluate existing process and procedures to recommend additions, enhancements and/or modifications needed to increase efficiency and/or accuracy, as needed

Research, develop and execute Treasury initiatives

Oversight of a Treasury Associate, including the review and posting of adjusting journal entries prepared by this individual

Review, approve, and transmit intercompany settlements and verify wire transfers via online banking

Review daily cash and cash equivalent estimates

Responsible for closing cash at month-end utilizing cash reconciliation reports and identification and resolution of discrepancies as needed

Respond to inquiries related to cash transactions

Fulfill requests for support received from internal and/or external auditors

Back up Treasury Associate as needed

Required Skills

Bachelors degree in Accounting (Masters degree preferred)

Demonstrative knowledge of GAAP accounting treatment and financial statement reporting

Ability to mentor/guide others while managing workload

Ability to problem solve and research accounting issues

Advanced Excel knowledge

Quality conscious, strong attention to accuracy and detail

Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks

Professional demeanor

Willing to work overtime at any time with little notice

Flexible, reliable, dependable team player, and regular attendance

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years Accounting experience
