Staff Accountant

Under general direction, the Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets will assist the Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets in all aspect of asset management. The Staff Accountant- Fixed Assets should be deadline driven and can work in a fast-paced environment. The Staff Accountant-Fixed Assets must also adjust to changing priorities and work well under pressure. This position will report directly to the Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets and will also have regular contact with the D&C team and the VP Accounting Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Record Fixed Asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system
  • Prepare all monthly P&L and Balance Sheet journal entries to record all aspects of Fixed Assets
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for related accounts: partner with FP&A team to explain the variances versus Budget and Estimates
  • Track and review the compilation of specific job cost and total company expenditures
  • Assist in the monthly financial close process by completing a thorough review to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare financial schedules; including, but not limited to:
  • Leasehold commitment Schedules: to track all Capex commitments to be spent
  • Capital expenditures monthly bridge: to be used for Magnitude reporting
  • Cash reporting: Capex spent during a period
  • Capex reporting by store: help the FP&A team to prepare this reporting under Newport
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with D&C team, IT and FP&A team
  • Partner with location to conduct a physical count of Fixed Assets
  • Assist with preparation of year-end audit work papers and responses to audit inquiries;
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required: BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
  • Preferred: Public or private accounting experience (accounting internships a plus if recently graduated college)
  • GAAP technical skills, particularly surrounding fixed assets
  • Skeptical mindset, desire to identify and implement process improvements,
  • Must be computer literate with strong knowledge of MS Excel (Pivot table, high volume of data to manage), Word and PowerPoint applications
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills
  • Work with a consistent sense of urgency but also with a balanced plan of attack
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected situations
  • Accurate with exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be a team player and successfully juggle and complete multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of Great Plains is highly preferred
  • Previous experience to perform reconciliations
  • Experience in Fixed asset accounting is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $45,000.00 to $55,000.00 /year
