George Mason University Foundation, Inc. is a 501©(3) non-private foundation and a private corporation organized and operated exclusively for the benefit of George Mason University. The Foundation assists the university in generating private support and manages, invests, and administers private gifts, including endowments and real property.

Responsibilities:

The Staff Accountant provides financial support to the accounting department within the Foundation. This position is responsible for various areas of the Foundation’s financial activity, including supervision or completion of various account reconciliations. Examples of reconciliations include: pledges, credit cards, and financial reporting for certain real estate projects. This position provides support for the external audit and various other projects.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a business field or combination of education and work experience;
• Must be independent, self-motivated, and able to work independently;
• Good decision-making and excellent oral and written communications skills;
• Must be organized and able to manage overlapping tasks;
• Demonstrated significant general accounting experience in a financial environment; and
• Ability to utilize accounting databases and fundraising databases in completion in tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with a university foundation is helpful;
• Knowledge of financial reconciliations and familiarity with real estate activity is beneficial; and
• Knowledge of Abila MIP or Ellucian Advance is a plus.
