Sr Systems Engineer – Linux

Job Description

Our Direct Client one of the largest player in the hospitality industry is looking to hire on a contract basis a Systems Software Engineer for managing the Microsoft and non-Microsoft based server operating systems, hardware and other associated services . She/ He would continuously monitor performance, anticipate technology trends/changes to assure current/future levels of service meet the growing requirements of the customer while maintaining a high level of service on production systems.

Essential Job FunctionsResponsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Manages the Microsoft and non-Microsoft based server operating systems, hardware and associated services by maintaining an expert level knowledge of certain products, technologies, tools, methodologies, and services used within the department; acquiring and maintaining working knowledge of business processes and procedures (40% Time)2. Management of systems and application patching and vulnerability management practice. Develop and produce monthly patch status, vulnerability risk, and trending reports and dashboard. (30% Time)3. Interfacing with other teams, vendors, and business as part of the service and support process; performing systems installation, administration, operations, maintenance, support, testing, upgrades, performance monitoring, and business continuance (15% Time)4. On-call support (10 % time)5. Performs other duties as needed (5% time)

Requirements: Travel RequirementsAbility to travel 5-10%Minimum Requirements and QualificationsState the specific levels of the following that are needed to perform the minimum duties of the position.(e.g. college degree, 3-5 years public accounting experience, CPA)a) Education¿ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology preferred but equivalent experience may be substituted.Revised June 2015b) Training requirements¿ Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, VMware,c) Knowledge and skills¿ Outstanding customer service skills.¿ Demonstration of good technical and tactical thinking and problem solving.¿ Possesses strong troubleshooting and problem solving ability.¿ Outstanding verbal and written communications skills. Able to work and effectively communicate with IT management personnel, peers, and outside vendors.d) Technical Skills¿ Technical background with Linux operating systems such as Red Hat Linux 4/5/6.¿ Technical background with Windows Server¿ Technical background with VMware ESX or vSphere.¿ Technical background with backup software such as Netbackup¿ Technical background with Windows Domain Servicese) Job experience¿ Minimum 5 years experience with administration of Windows operating system¿ Minimum 3 years experience with administration of Linux operating systems¿ Minimum 3 year experience in administration of Netback¿ Minimum 5 years experience with administration of Domain Services
