Are you an

experienced engineer with a solid understanding of multiple virtualization

technologies in a large scale technology environment? Does the challenge of

building infrastructure containers across public and private cloud providers

position is critical to Nordstrom’s overall strategy and will directly affect

our success in revenue and enhancement of the overall customer experience.

This position contributes to the creation and maintenance of Nordstrom’s compute

policy, governance, principles and direction of hypervisor and cloud based

infrastructure. Provides subject matter expertise on open source technologies, server

hardware specifications, and virtual/cloud enabling infrastructures. He or she

contributes to the efforts to ensure security, compliance, performance, service

level agreements, operating level agreements and operation standards are met

for the core server, and virtual infrastructure. This engineer additionally

contributes to our enterprise architectural decisions, focusing speed and systems

delivery. Candidates must be a self-starter, have a broad technical background,

possess both critical thinking and analytical skills and must be able to manage

many tasks at any given time.

In this role, you will:
·

Implement and champion

platform and converged systems technologies within our organization.

·

Build tooling to allow

the self-service of infrastructure offerings by application teams in a secure,

reliable, friction free manner.

·

Work closely with both

development and operations teams with a demonstrated commitment to their

success.

·

Represent Nordstrom in

the technical community, which can include participating in conferences and

contributing to open source.

·

Demonstrate a passion and

commitment towards advancing

on-premises

and hybrid cloud

technologies at enterprise scale.

·

Review clustering, replication,

backup and archiving options, ensure they are designed and configured optimally

for the business needs.

·

Participate in 24×7

on-call rotation

Qualifications:
·

6+ years of e

xperience in an engineering

capacity directly supporting industry standard storage, compute and

virtualization platforms

·

An understanding of the

complexities around security and compliance in a public or hybrid cloud

environment (PCI, etc).

·

Experience with Chef or similar

technology.

·

Node, Python, Ruby, PowerShell

and/or Unix shell scripting experience.

·

Experience with Git or other source

control.

·

Experience with Infrastructure as

Code and/or Infrastructure automation.

·

Strong at design, implementation, operation and troubleshooting of

storage and virtualized systems

·

Experience with managing capacity and infrastructure lifecycle in

large hyper-converged environments

·

Understanding of software

development methodologies and practices, including agile development,

continuous integration and continuous delivery.

·

Experience demonstrating, meeting and reporting on goals, metrics,

and objectives; adhering to technology operations strategies and practices

·

Ability and skill to influence others in a matrix organization;

Ability to participate with management in decision support mode

·

General awesomeness, positive

attitude and passion trump all other requirements.
