Sr. Software Engineer

Pleiotek is recruiting for a Software Engineer to work in Washington DC/Florida/Remote area for an upcoming contract.

The Software Engineer position will be in support of VA programs and software development initiatives. This position requires the ability to obtain a clearance from the Veterans Administration.

The Software Engineer should have experience in leading teams using Agile SCRUM, designing complex software, and developing software from requirements. Familiarity with VA PMAS , VIP is preferred.

The. Software Engineer will be part of an integrated development team responsible for the design, development, and testing of new programs and sustainment of existing programs in support of applications deployed at the Veterans Administration. The Software Engineer must be able to convert requirements from the customer into actionable designs, develop well documented code, and test the code for functionality and compliance with the customer requirements. The Software Engineer should have demonstrated abilities to use Agile Development methodologies including use of common development toolkits and frameworks. The Software Engineer should be familiar with concepts of Object Oriented Design, Service Oriented Architecture, Relational Databases. Familiarity with Web/Mobile and NoSQL technologies is desired.

Requirements

• Minimum BS in Computer Science or Engineering or related discipline
• 3-5 years of progressive development experience in one or more major development languages including Java/.NET/C#
• Knowledge of tools for Agile Development to include JIRA/IBM Jazz, Continuous Integration, GIT repositories
• Familiarity with VA legacy systems and databases
• Familiarity with Relational Databases including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
• Familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture, WS-* standards, Enterprise Service Bus
• Automated test techniques and tools
• Familiarity with Web Development , HTML5
• Knowledge of UML
• Knowledge of Federal Enterprise Architecture
• Demonstrable programming ability with J2EE, SOAP, Rest
• Experience with XML
