The Sr Project Engineer supports the manufacture of Medtronic Neurovascular products to ensure operations core metrics of safety, quality, product availability, and cost. Provides manufacturing floor support, contributes technical leadership, and leads implementation of manufacturing improvements to assigned product lines.

A Day in the Life

Apply fundamental engineering principles to create practical solutions to technical challenges and provide technical support across functions

Troubleshoot and assist in resolution of equipment issues on the manufacturing line

Disposition nonconforming product, evaluate root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of nonconformances.

Create and maintain the documentation necessary to ensure the consistent manufacture of Medtronic Neurovascular products (procedures, drawings, production routers, etc.)

Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventative actions to improve yield of the manufacturing line(s)

Develop and execute IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and reports for implementing new equipment and processes into production

Design and develop tooling and fixtures to effectively manufacture new and existing products

Maintain and improve current production processes and assist in the smooth transfer of new product lines and processes from R&D into production

Mentor less experienced Process Engineers and Technicians

Develop and execute process characterization, validation and material qualification plans

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or biomedical is preferred)

4+ years minimum engineering experience in the medical device industry (or similar, regulated industry)

Reading, producing, and editing engineering drawings

Equipment and tooling design and troubleshooting

Computer literate; advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills

Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Able to tailor communication style based on audience (management, production personnel or engineering teammates)

Complex reading and engineering level math

Experience with risk-based failure mode analysis (FMECA)

SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software experience

Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills

Self-motivated and committed to a team approach

Self-directed with high ethical standards

Nice to Have :
Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma concepts and root cause tools

Microsoft Project and Visio experience

QSR and ISO 9000 training
