Sr. Manager, Solution Architect

Primary Purpose: The Solution Architect will drive the application architecture for multiple technology projects across eCommerce and Retail business domains. The ideal candidate must have strong architecture knowledge and experience, familiar with diverse set of technologies, ability to solve complex technical problems, collaborate with multiple business, and technology partners and effectively communicate the proposed architecture to key stake holders.

The successful candidate would leverage their technical background to drive the following:

Solution Architecture:

• Align solution architecture with the business strategy and the Enterprise Architecture
  

• Align Project roadmaps with Enterprise roadmaps
  

• Coordinate solution architecture implementation and modification activities.
  

• Document all solution architecture Macro and Micro level design and analysis (Contextual, Conceptual, Logical, Physical)
  

• Technical / Security implementation specifications
  

• Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations.
  

• Consult with application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture, and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs.

Domain Architecture:

• Create the solution architecture for ongoing projects related to eCommerce
  

• Knowledge of Stores / Retail applications highly desirable
  

• Lead large-scale Global eCommerce implementation on Demandware by providing both oversight and hands on contributions to the software design, development, and integration.
  

• Provide support to the sales effort on new business development pursuits, assisting with RFP responses, architecture assessments and technical qualifications.
  

• In-depth knowledge in Demandware pipelines, JS controllers and custom cartridge development.
  

• Must have strong knowledge in SEO, analytics, global payments, social commerce, marketing could solutions and SAP integration.
  

• Optimize front-end (FEO) application performance and scalability.
  

• Should have strong communication, leadership and negotiation skills to work closely with business and other cross-functional teams in matrix organization.

The accomplished individual will possess…

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  

• At least ten years of total IT experience with at least two years of management experience in medium to large companies in the retail or similar sectors.
  

• Five to seven years of Architecture design experience in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, API design and implementation including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
  

• Hands-on software engineering/development experience is strongly preferred.
  

• Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

Soft Skills:

• Ability to understand the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term perspectives of situations.
  

• Collaborate with diverse set of IT and business partners to drive the solution architecture.
  

• Excellent analytical and technical skills.
  

• Should have strong communication, leadership and negotiation skills to work closely with business and other cross-functional teams in matrix organization.

Hard Skills:

• Knowledge of all components of Omni-Channel technical architecture
  

• Applications: eCommerce, Payment processing, Retail applications, Customer facing applications
  

• Technologies: eCommerce – Demandware, .NET, Java, Hosting, UNIX/Windows Servers, Oracle/DB2/SQL Databases, CDN’s, Networking
  

• Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies.
  

• Strong understanding of SOA, API, object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server systems
  

• Knowledge of IT security and regulatory compliance (PCI, PII, etc.)
  

• Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
