Sr. Manager of Application Development

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This Sr. Manager of Application Development is a new role at Gas South. The selected individual will hire a talented team to support Gas South’s application development. This leadership role will be responsible for defining the technology stack and frameworks used to deliver high value applications to our customers and employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a team of full-stack developers in the implementation of product features which directly drive value to our customers.
• Technical planning, architecture, development and delivery of a given solution.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to team and personal learning.
• Coach software developers on software development best practices.
• Utilize Agile work processes and manage sprint cycles to ensure quality product delivery and timeliness.
• Employ modern DevOps tools for continuous integration and continuous delivery with an emphasis of shipping code rapidly to production and iterating on the results.
• Working with other functional groups to solve tough business problems with quality software.
• Not afraid to "keep their hands dirty".

• Develop, design, and maintain software to enable #1 Customer experience strategy. Analyze, design, build, and test new components or enhancements to existing software. Design and code applications to functional and technical programming standards. Develop system specifications and interfaces for complex components. Create operational documentation for the application.
• Maintain applications according to SLAs.
• Develop and implement testing plans. Analyze, design, build, and/or test new components or enhancements to existing modules.
• Identify and assess complex problems and create solutions that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors which are implemented by the team.
• Work to gather requirements and develop proof of concepts for new technologies/solutions and suggest business process improvements to reduce complexity in custom application(s).
• Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
• Conduct project and issue management for work and make decisions that impact the team through regular consultation with senior management.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
• Strong Technology foundation with hands on experience developing code.
• 3+ years in a leadership role including experience leading an application development team
• 8+ years of experience as a Front-End Developer/Architect
• Deep understanding and extensive hands-on experience developing content and front-end code including JavaScript, JavaScript libraries, HTML5 charting tools, CSS, Images, .NET MVC Views, and ASP.NET forms
• Strong knowledge of Azure and Cloud Computing concepts
• Experience implementing and maintaining configuration management tools (Chef, Salt Stack, etc.) preferably Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) or Team Foundation Server (TFS)
• Experience developing in Salesforce Sales Cloud preferred
• Experience developing iOS and Android mobile applications preferred
• Experience directing and working with an offshore development team
• Deep understanding and extensive hands-on experience developing content and front-end code including JavaScript, JavaScript libraries, HTML5 charting tools, CSS, Images, .NET MVC Views, and ASP.NET forms
• Strong knowledge of Azure and Cloud Computing concepts
