The Sr. LINUX Administrator will have responsibilities over Kiewit’s Enterprise Server, SAP, and Systems infrastructure. They will be a lead technical resource assisting Kiewit Technology Group teams in driving technology and standards for our business partners. This position will also contribute towards the creations of all internal standards policies, procedural and technical documentation. They will work closely with the Architecture group to establish technical and procedural strategies regarding server and LINUX standards. This person should work proactively to identify issues and consult with team members to establish resolution. They should work well within a high-paced environment and function well in a diverse and dynamic team environment. The incumbent will also have strong leadership, influential, and direction skills. This position will report to the Infrastructure Support Supervisor within the Kiewit Technology Group Operations organization.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain Enterprise-level server RedHat systems.
  • Ability to administer an enterprise level RedHat LINUX SAP environment.
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure in relationship to server infrastructure.
  • Ability to identify capacity and performance needs for server infrastructure (compute, memory and disk).
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems. Windows a plus.
  • Knowledge of VMware platform and management tools.
  • Ability to manage IT related initiatives including long-duration projects across multiple groups.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple related projects, including troubleshooting, operations, and maintenance of the enterprise in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide customer-focused technical support to other teams within Information Management and our business partners as needed.
  • Ability to maintain documentation for IT processes, procedures, trouble tickets, network configurations, hardware/software inventory, and audit requests.
  • Create and maintain technical and procedural standards documentation.
  • Follow formal change control process when necessary.
  • Represent the Server team as a lead resource on corporate project teams and advisory boards.

Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated, self-starting and self-directed.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in an information technology role.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working with RedHat Linux.
  • Minimum one (1) year administering an SAP environment.
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure in relationship to server infrastructure.
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems a plus.
  • Experience in the VMware platform and management tools.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies, standards and best practices.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and as a part of multiple teams.
  • Ability to manage a variety of technically challenging tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to solve unique problems with creative solutions.
  • Must be able to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work efficiently.
  • Demonstrated initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while still maintaining high quality standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to present information both to technical and non-technical customers/stakeholders, in appropriate media and form.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items weighing approximately 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work off-hours when required and be part of an on-call rotation.
  • Bachelors degree in a computer related field required.
