Sr. Financial Analyst

Senior Financial Analyst – Launch Sites (Cape Canaveral)

The Senior Financial Analyst – Launch Sites will be instrumental in the development, tracking, forecasting, reporting and accounting for all SpaceX projects at SpaceX’s Cape Canaveral, Vandenberg and future launch sites. This is a key FP&A role with executive level visibility driving both spend and business segment decision-making for our Launch, Recovery and Vehicle Refurbishment activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead forecast and analysis of key performance indicators and financial drivers including spend and resource requirements for the launch team, including operating expenses, capital and headcount to ensure an optimal return on capital
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses as needed to support operational decision making and to improve efficiency and/or profitability, including performance of ROI analysis and profit/loss analysis to assess/prioritize new opportunities
  • Develop meaningful key performance metrics and cost tracking initiatives for the launch vehicle refurbishment team, including implementation of cost roadmap initiatives and variance analysis
  • Enhance tools to track costs incurred and estimates to complete for multiple projects to support metric tracking as well as revenue recognition
  • Financial tracking, management and forecasting of large construction projects
  • Provide insight on spending variances and department level reporting to business partners and develop cost reduction and/or productivity initiatives
  • Perform a leading role on internal projects, working closely with peer organization to understand key business issues and translate them into financial models or metrics

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting/finance operations experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/finance, economics or engineering
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, applied business statistics, and general modeling experience of complex non-linear systems
  • MBA
  • CPA
  • Experience working with finances/accounting within manufacturing or technology organizations
  • Experience acting as a finance subject matter expert in the optimization of various ERP business tools and applications
  • Knowledge of reporting, visualization, intelligence and analysis tools
  • Exposure to/ awareness of technical engineering concepts and/or SpaceX service offerings
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to regularly interface with Executive Management
  • Strong leadership skills and have a high level of responsibility and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-pace environment
  • Experience with presenting analytical results in verbal and written form across a multi-disciplinary organization
  • Ability to frame unstructured and complex analytical problems to a broad audience
