Job Description
*This position may be based in the following locations; RTP site in North Carolina, Corporate Headquarters in Cambridge, MA, Solothurn site, or Hillerod site.

The Senior Director of Global Process Engineering is responsible for leading a group of highly skilled, multi-disciplined process engineers to support all operations within PO&T beginning with R&D concepts through Facility Design, Facility/Process Modeling, Tech Transfers, Manufacturing technical support, CMO and Supply Chain engineering support. Responsible to create and maintain Engineering Design Standards, drive standardized operations across sites, and lead team of Global Process System Owners.

1. Directs team members and individual contributors in support of Development, Tech Transfer, and Facility planning operations. Develops and maintains engineering systems, standards, and procedures to deliver concepts from R&D/TD into feasible manufacturing options. Creates and maintains facility and process modeling that identifies LRP capabilities and predicts facility investments. Develops, communicates, and implements strategic goals in support of Manufacturing operations and Facility utilization.

2. Directs team members and individual contributors in support of process engineering activities for Capital Project conceptual and feasibility stages. Aligns facility, utility, and process designs to best practice standards across the internal and external manufacturing network. Supports Tech Transfer of new processes into production.

3. Directs team members and individual contributors in support of internal and external Manufacturing operations. Provides indepth process engineering support for critical manufacturing operations in combination with site or CMO resources. Creates and maintains engineering design standards. Leads team of Process System Owners, responsible for execution of and adherence to engineering and operational design standards.

4. Develops people and leaders within the organization. Creates succession plans and conducts talent reviews. Maintains/creates effective organization to provide continual learning environment that supports PO&T operations.

Qualifications
A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Process Engineering in Biotech or Pharma industry including five (5) years of supervisory/management experience. Knowledge of process design, facility design, GMP operations, utilities systems and current pharmaceutical practices is essential. Excellent leadership, project management, organizational, communication, and inter-personal skills are required.

• Critical Knowledge of Process Equipment, Distributed Control Systems, Equipment/System Validation, Facility Operations, Instrumentation, cGMP regulations, and Biotech and Pharma Manufacturing Unit Operations.

• Demonstrate ability to independently influence and/or manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and multiple project and time/resource management skills.

• Demonstrate strong leadership capability with excellent strategic vision and conceptual skills.

• Ability to serve as a consultant to all levels of management.

• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to resolve problems with poise, tact and diplomacy.

• Ability to interact with people of a wide variety of backgrounds, levels of responsibility and education levels.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Ability to travel as needed (both domestically and internationally).

Education
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required. MS degree preferred.
