Sr Developer – IBM Cognos

Designs and develops internal and external business systems/applications, systems interfaces, databases, reporting, or business intelligence systems, as required to deliver new systems functionality supporting corporate business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Translate business, and functional requirements into documented technical specifications.
• Assess the impact of new requirements on an existing suite of complex applications.
• Perform design and analysis on business systems applications, systems interfaces, databases, reporting, or business intelligence systems.
• Utilize IBM Cognos ICM (formerly Varicent) to manage and analyze business problems and translate requirements into detailed functional design specifications.
• Utilize multiple database tools, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle to analyze complex data scenarios and assist in defining solutions.
• Facilitate/lead design reviews (walkthroughs) of functional design with other members of the technical team, communicating design, requirements, feature set, and functionality.
• Partner with architecture and development resources to ensure the business requirements are met by the proposed and delivered solution(s).
• Provide SME level guidance to Development and Application support teams during development and deployment phases.
• Provide accurate estimates of effort and timelines for completion of assigned tasks.
• Conduct peer reviews to solicit feedback on materials created.
• Plan, facilitate, and participate in working sessions with cross-functional resources.
• Perform advanced data analysis and integrate database tools with MS Excel.
• Utilize Microsoft word to produce clear, concise, and complete technical design and functional specification documentation.
• Work on employee and dealer commissioning in a wireless telecom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience utilizing Varicent SPM and IBM Cognos ICM.
• Experience utilizing multiple database tools, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
• Experience performing advanced data analysis and integrating database tools with MS Excel.
• Experience utilizing Microsoft Word.
• Experience producing clear, concise, and complete technical and functional specification documentation.
• Experience working on employee and dealer commissioning in a wireless telecom environment.

Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, business administration or a related field or the foreign equivalent and 7 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate relevant work experience.
• In the alternative, we will accept a master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, business administration, or a related field or the foreign equivalent and 4 years of relevant work experience.
