Responsibilities

The Sr. Database Engineer will be joining a team accountable for the execution of products and services involving cognitive computing and advanced analytics. The scope of responsibility includes the following:

Design, implement, and test the data layer and ETL solutions within Enterra’s core products

Develop data quality and data validation tools to improve the overall integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of data-related processes

Assisting developers in debugging SQL, stored procedures, NoSQL, and related data issues

Tuning query performance

Perform data analysis, data mining, and data investigations with advanced query techniques

Finds and recommends opportunities for continuous improvement

Ability to research, develop and propose new technologies to improve big data processing, data architecture, and data analytics

Authors technical documentation

Provide technical support for production systems

Communicate with the internal team and customers

Position Qualifications – Required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent

Minimum of 7 years of experience in the architecture, design, development, and deployment with one or more highly available SQL and NoSQL database environments using Oracle, HANA, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, OR Cassandra.

Expert level in SQL and Stored Procedure coding and performance optimization in any of the following: Oracle, HANA, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar RDBMS.

Minimum of 2 years of experience – preferably current – working in a Linux/Unix environment

Hands-on experience in logical and physical data modeling

Design and implement production monitoring and operational solutions for big data infrastructure

Expert level understanding of data warehousing, business intelligence, and application data integration solutions in large enterprises

Knowledge of ETL tools and automating data processing workflows

Proficient in working with data encoding formats such as JSON and XML

Experience with Shell scripting, Perl, Ruby, or Python

Excellent problem solving skills and troubleshooting issues in large, complex, data processing environment

Working knowledge of the AWS environment

Knowledge of big data technologies in the Hadoop ecosystem such as Pig, Hive, Sqoop, Storm, Spark or Flume

Working in a highly collaborative team environment with agile best practices such as TDD, continuous integration, and automated testing and deployment

Excellent oral and written communication skills

The following additional skills would be Desired:
Experience with leading BI solutions; i.e., Business Objects, OBIEE, Cognos or Micro -Strategy

Java Programming

Master’s Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
