Job Description:Job Role Summary:
The position is for a Automation Tester to support design and Test an enterprise level Train Control System for Railroad customers.

In this role, the Automation Tester is supposed drive on software testing and maintenance of the Unified Train Control System (UTCS). UTCS system is an enterprise level system used by Norfolk Southern (NS) Railroad to control train movement and planning functions. Candidate in this role is expected to work closely with the software development and test team in providing root cause analysis and solution for the issues reported by customers. The tester is expected to assist software development team in performing sub-system and system level software verification testing. The software engineer will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Participate in the scrum meetings for software design, development and maintenance tasks on the UTCS project,
• Work as an individual contributor and take guidance from software technical leader,
• Work in an environment of developers using open source development tools.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 5 yrs of Business Analysis Experience preferably in Rail Road Domain.

Expected Skillset:

• Experience with Software Testing in Rail Domain to test standalone desktop applications
• Experience with Java & Selenium Testing Framework in Rail Domain to test standalone desktop applications,
• Experience with Testing web application and technologies desirable,
• Experience with Scrum/ Agile development,
• Good problem solving skills,
• Experience with software version management (Clearcase, SVN, or Git),
• Ability to work with a cross-functional team.
• Domain knowledge in Railroad Operating Practices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
