Sr Analyst, AML CDD

This position maintains a high degree of responsibility and serves a critical role in efforts to achieve and maintain TD Ameritrade’s compliance with highly scrutinized and visible rules and regulations. This position is responsible for the analysis of client relationships in conjunction with the USA Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and other AML-related requirements.
The primary functions of this position are to review, analyze, and evaluate high-risk customer information, transactional information, and third party vendor provided information as it pertains to the AML risk presented to the firm and determine appropriate action based on findings. Additional functions of this position will include performing AML investigations as necessary in order to complete Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filings in a timely manner and researching issues escalated to AML for guidance by business partners. This individual will recognize and escalate high risk clients and activity to AML Management for possible law enforcement and/or regulatory referrals as necessary. The role will assist management in the analysis of the work and escalate identified problems, metrics, and trends.
Primary areas of responsibility requires a strong understanding of BSA/ AML regulatory requirements, the securities industry, and TD Ameritrade’s internal systems and policies and procedures. Superior client focus and risk management skills are required.

  • Validate risk scoring criteria for customer profiles
  • Review activity, recent news, client communications, etc..
  • Determine if customer data needs to be updated through trigger event process
  • Determine if suspicious activity is present
  • Review requests for transactional guidance from business partners and determine the level of AML risk involved
  • Review source of funds for prospective clients with large inflows
  • Provide consultation on matters related to sanctions programs, PEPs and other similar risk-related situations.
  • Determine whether PEP criteria is met based on alerts or self-disclosures.
  • Review and disposition alerts generated via SBS. Alerts are either closed, escalated for potential business-related risk or escalated based on AML risk.
  • Consider whether alerts reviewed and additional research warrant a manual adjustment to a client’s risk score.

  • 4 Year College Degree
  • 2-3 years of AML/OFAC related work experience required
  • Minimum of 4 years Broker/Dealer, Banking, Regulatory industry experience
  • Must have demonstrated experience and be comfortable making critical decisions in a time sensitive environment.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in applying judgment and analysis to detect and deter money laundering activities.
  • Ability to work independently, but cohesively within a team of specialized associates.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Possess ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data.
  • Demonstrate exceptional analytical skills, judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
  • Must be able to keep abreast of and understand industry, AML, BSA, and OFAC rules and regulations.
  • Adept at analyzing and communicating market information.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, broad knowledge of internal TD Ameritrade systems, database management programs and Internet browser based applications.
  • Proficiency in vendor systems: Mantas, Actimize, SMARTS, SBS and Accurint are a plus
  • Series 7 preferred
  • Anti-Money Laundering Specialist Certification (CAMS) preferred
  • Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements listed
