Sr. Accountant – Accounts Receivable

The Job

As the Accounts Receivable Senior Accountant you will be primarily responsible for the monthly close process associated with all aspects of the accounts receivable function, which includes preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and departmental deliverables such as the Store Count Report, Bad Debt Expense Summary, Accounts Receivable Operational Metric Report and also respond to management inquiries. The Accounts Receivable Senior Accountant will review and resolve any IDOC failures submitted to the IT SAP Accounts Receivable Outlook mailbox and review the Daily Billing Threshold Report to ensure all billings over the thresholds are accurate. In addition, this team member will assist with the annual P&I/patronage dividend process and serve as a back-up for all aspects of the service article process. Also, support the Accounts Receivable Accounting Supervisor and provide business partners with Accounts Receivable Accounting information as needed.
What you’ll do
Perform the monthly close process associated with several areas of the accounts receivable function, including retailer loans, retailer incentive programs, A/R cut-off, bad debt reserves, equity and patronage.
Prepare and periodically distribute monthly department deliverables such as the Store Count Report, Bad Debt Expense Summary and the Accounts Receivable Operational Metric Report.
Review IDOC failures submitted to the IT SAP Accounts Receivable Outlook mailbox, identify the root cause of the failures, work with the business team to correct the front-end issue and work with IT Production Services to ensure the IDOC’s are successfully processed into SAP.
Review the Daily Billing Threshold Report to ensure all billings over the thresholds are accurate. If billing issues are discovered, work with the appropriate department to correct the issues.
Support and assist with the annual P&I/patronage dividend process including the timely issuance and distribution of the cash and stock payments. In addition, provide patronage rebate estimates to retailers as requested and assist with forecasting the impact of changes to the patronage dividend plan on the Company’s balance sheet and future cash flow
Serve as a back-up for all aspects of the service article process. This includes creating new service articles, mapping new service articles to the appropriate general ledger accounts and maintaining existing service articles.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
5 to 7 years of work experience in a corporate accounting capacity
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and a strong understanding of accounting principles
Ability to interpret and analyze financial data to identify operational issues or trends
Self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks within established deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts and processes (i.e. A/R, A/P, basic Tax implications and basic Audit functions)
Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Word and Excel
