Specialist IT Programmer

We are now seeking a Specialist IT Programmer to join our Broussard, LA team.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB is to w rite programs (code) to create or modify information systems that are appropriate for users’ needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization’s information systems architecture. Under general supervision, modifies moderately complex applications programs from detailed specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Confirms project requirements by reviewing program objective, input data, and output requirements with analyst, supervisor, and client
  
• Analyze, Develop, maintain, and document new and existing products to support the business needs of WSI and other Superior business units
  
• Responsible for data conversions and updating and enhancing system to meet BU needs
  
• Act as a point of escalation for bug fixes and issue resolution
  
• Responsible for keeping system functional to interface with other 3 rd party Financial and Operational Software
  
• Confirms program operation by conducting tests and modifying programs as needed
  
• Prepares reference for users by writing operating instructions
  
• Maintains historical records by documenting program development and revisions
  
• Contribute ideas for the continuous improvement of custom software packages

TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Understanding of current design patterns, best practices and coding standards as they pertain to the languages used.
  
• Must be a quick learner with the drive to learn new technologies.
  
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline or the equivalent in work experience.
  
• Must be a self-starter possessing excellent time management skills and be able manage multiple troubleshooting activities simultaneously.
  
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  
• Experience working with HTML/HTML 5/JavaScript/CSS.
  
• Ability to generate requirements, estimates and plan for projects.
  
• 5+ years development experience with a web-based programming language such as Cold Fusion or VB.net
  
• 5+ years’ experience working with database transactions – writing/optimizing queries (MS SQL/SQL preferred, but not required)
  

OPTIONAL SKILLS

• Experience building JavaScript heavy applications.
• Experience with CSS.
• Experience writing and implementing MS SQL stored procedures.
• ColdFusion Development.
• Experience with change management processes.
• Report Development (Crystal Reports or any other method of generating standard and efficient reports).
• Experience developing with a mobile framework or mobile applications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming or other related field of study
• Five or more years of programming experience in a business environment
